Big Update (it's been a while)

Foiled!

At least temporarily.

I found today that to have the controls I want on my jacket, I need more pins than my current Arduino board has. I considered going ahead anyway, but I knew I wouldn't wear my jacket as much if it wasn't what I wanted. So I ordered a different board, but it won't be here for 4-5 days. So instead of saying I've been foiled, let's just say the jacket is to be continued...

 
 

End of Day 1

One fourth of the lights are now working. I've covered all of the LEDs (89 of them) in Instamorph. The fake fur part of the jacket is designed, cut, and sewn.

Tomorrow: hook up remaining LEDs, finish the non-fur portion of the jacket, do some coding, and if I have time - add buttons to control the colors. Though if I run out if time I'll add those later, 'cause I think they would be cool.

LED/Instamorph in Fake Fur Test

Bare LED. Bright, but an uneven light that can be blinding at the right angle.

Casing the LED in Instamorph (low-temperature melting plastic). A little dimmer, but more diffuse. And it looks like a piece of glowing candy.

Here it is not lit. I think this is the way to go.
